Graeme Neil Reid:

If you're Scottish (or maybe from the north of England) you'll know who Oor Wullie and The Broons are as they celebrate their 90th birthday. I've drawn them a few times for licensing items and other odd things and it's always a cultural thrill.

I have a few days off coming up, and I’m going to spend a day revisiting an old hobby of going round as many charity shops as I can, looking for books.

whats keeping me writing is the idea that ok, I’m not ever gonna be Alan Moore or Garth Ennis or (pick your favourite) but also they will never ever write exactly the thing I’m currently interested in and maybe it’s only me interested in it, but I’m also the only one writing it.

Me, opening up my code: “This looks like someone who didn’t know what they’re doing wrote this in sporadic bursts late at night”

Google Photos giving me today’s nostalgia photos with the message “Has it really been two years?”. I’m wearing the same clothes. Now I think Photos is commenting on the low turnover in my wardrobe.

It’s Spring and the sun’s out. Putting all the jeans away and moving back into my shorts.

I think it might be time to explore the world of split keyboards.

The Boy built his first starter grade Gunpla this afternoon.

Doing okay on the reading front

I think we’re doing okay at encouraging reading so far.

Looks like I’ll be going to see Rush.

Red Dwarf is foundational for me. Watching it over and over, the search for second hand videos, setting every Windows 3.1 sound to Lister yelling “Smeg!”. RIP, Rob Grant.

Never a big Narnia guy but this 6 seconds typifies everything I love about British television.

Oh hells yeah

Yes, please!

Akira’s coming round in the cinema again. The experience of watching it on that Sunday morning after recording it from BBC 2 is definitely a pivotal moment in my life.

Can’t wait to see it again.

“My experience with AI” blog posts end up being either “I give it enormous instructions, let it chug away and don’t read the code. It’s the future” or “I have learned to break tasks down into very small, manageable tasks, but it’s my paid subscription that’s improved my productivity.”

Deep thought and Internet searches going into a perceived problem in the code. How to avoid n+1 problem? Can sqlx easily built nested struts in arrays? Will I need a new plugin.

Wait… The whole thing is two queries and a loop. GFDI.

Hello Talk now has an AI bot joining in on helping to correct posts. Feels like it’s somewhat defeating the point of creating a community to help each other.

Then again, it’s all just for the predatory money lending ads, isn’t it?

Digital Transfer and Grading R3Store Studios in London provide Film is Fabulous! with professional scanning, transfer, and grading of selected films. This short video shows the 35mm reel of ‘Veronica’ being transferred, having been digitally scanned.

Love seeing these old reels brought back to life.

Potholes.

Adding to my culinary repertoire by making croutons.

We’ve started tracking food and other household goods in grocy, to try and cut down on buying duplicates when we’re out. I shouldn’t be surprised that we’re already at 60 different products to keep track of.
